TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities in Arizona are searching for the 84-year-old mother of 'Today' show host Savannah Guthrie, who was reported missing over the weekend.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated at a news conference that Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home in the Tucson area around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. Her family officially reported her missing around noon on Sunday. While Nancy has some physical ailments, officials confirmed that she does not have any cognitive issues.

The search operation has included the use of drones and search dogs, with additional support from volunteers, Border Patrol, and the homicide investigation team. Sheriff Nanos noted that it is uncommon for the homicide team to be involved in missing persons cases, but the circumstances surrounding Nancy Guthrie's disappearance have prompted a thorough investigation.

“This one stood out because of what was described to us at the scene and what we located just looking at the scene,” Nanos remarked, emphasizing that foul play has not been ruled out.

Reacting to the developments, Savannah Guthrie expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support received during this difficult time. In a statement, she said, “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear Nancy.”
